The PetSmart fish return policy allows customers 14 days to return a fish, dead or alive. You must return the fish to the store along with your receipt and may need to provide your photo ID or if the fish has died a water sample.

You can either return the fish living or dead but if dead it needs to have a water sample and it must be within 14 days after purchase either will not be accepted or may be approved on a case by case basis at the discretion of a pet store manager.

  4. Receive cash back if you paid for your food item with cash. Receive a merchandise return card for the original value if you purchased the food with a gift card or with a check. Alternatively, receive a cash refund after at least 10 days from the date that you purchased the food with a check.
  5. Mail your item back to PetSmart if there are no stores near you. Include your receipt and the packing slip. You are responsible for all shipping charges. PetSmart recommends using an insured and traceable method of shipping.
